Our
Mission Enriching the lives of young
people through creative program opportunities.
Safety is stressed at our camp. We want all campers to
have a fun, challenging, enriching experience at camp-one that
is memorable and fulfilling. Click here
for more reasons to pick our camp!
We
offer six core weeks of camp. During these six weeks campers
are grouped according to age/grade and all follow a specific
pre-planned schedule. The day is comprised of approximately 10
mods. Mods are blocks of time. Each group follows their own
schedule and some of the typical offerings within each mod are
as follows: swimming, nature, arts and crafts, sports, games
and talent show rehearsals. Every Friday is a special day. We
either present a talent show for the parents or the campers
take part in a Camp Fire Friday where the whole camp
participates in a mock camp fire with songs and stories and an
afternoon of carnival style games with food and prizes.
In
addition to the regularly scheduled days we also offer special
event days, in house programs and age appropriate field trips
throughout the summer. This type of planning is preplanned by
year round staff with attention to detail to ensure a well
rounded, age appropriate, challenging and memorable program to
be had by all.
Hours For all weeks the basic camp day runs from 9:00 am -
4:00 pm. Extended care is offered between 7:00 - 9:00 am
and/or 4:00 - 6:00 pm at which time a modified program will be
offered. To get more information about rates, click here.
Week 7
is a special week with the 3 big camp events all being held on
Friday, August 6, 2010. The week entails a Talent Show, Family
Picnic, and Sleepover (sleepover is for 4th to 8th
graders)
We also
offer Travel Weeks, towards the end of the summer after the
commencement of the 6 week core program. During travel weeks
daily field trips are schedule to parks, indoor recreation
centers, swimming, bowling, movies, museums, or other area
attractions. Friday of each week will be reserved as a rain
date or for pizza parties at The Youth Center. The fee
includes all admissions. Campers must provide their own lunch
every day but the Fridays. Specific details and permission
slip to follow. Limited enrollment accepted.
We are
not a summer rec or extended year day care program. We offer a
bonafide day camp, accredited by the ACA (American Camp
Association), and licensed by the state of New Jersey.
What
is the ACA? ACA Accreditation means that your child's came cares
enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of
all its operation-from staff qualifications and training to
emergency management. The ACA collaborated with experts-from
the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross,
and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current
practices at your child's camp reflect the most up-to-date,
research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and the ACA
form a partnershup that promotes growth and fun in an
environment committed to safety.
Staff
Our camp employs
year-round staff, including carefully screened, selected and
trained summer staff members, who are eager to provide the
best summer experience for all campers. All are trained, prior
to the start of the season in general camp procedures and
certifications in CPR, First Aid, lifeguarding and WSI (Water
Safety Instructor) are possessed by appropriately selected
staff members.
Lead counselors and
group counselors are adults. We employ a minimal number of
Junior Counselors ages 16 and 17 to assist adult counselors.
Those that are employed usually come up through the ranks and
are always exceptional at what they do.
Ratios
We are small and we
know our campers. Our staff to camper ratio is between 1:4 and
1:10, depending on the age and activity to ensure the best
supervision possible for your child.
